History of Morris Isaacson High School
The need for a High School was very great, Morris Isaacson undertook to donate R4 800 then Isaacson was born. In 1957, the was duly opened. Morris Isaacson Secondary School was amongst the first on the Witwatersrand and had for two years in succession issued its annual Magazine giving particulars of the work of the school, and primarily printing pupils up to Matriculation standard.
Mr. Kobe was succeeded by L.M. Mathabathe as a principal. It was during the principalship of Mathabathe the 1976 pupil’s uprising broke up. Led by Tsietsi Mashinini, a pupil at the school, meeting by pupils’ leaders (other schools) were held the school.
The school was shutdown by authorities (government) in 1979. The principals then was Mr. Malebane. It was reopened in 1981. Mr. Madida became the headmaster until 1993. In 1994 Mr. Mashile became the principal and was succeeded by Mr. Khanyile in 2008. Currently the school is under a care – taker principal Mr. XC Mayisela.

Extra Curriculum Activities
Debate Morris Isaacson High represented South Africa in United States of America in the Model UN Debate. Together with High School Linden the 4 learners represented Gauteng and later walloped the other provinces. We got position 1 and boasts of the best speakers.
2005 the Debate got position 1 in the library competition and in 2006 position 2.
The school takes part in the Speech Drama contests, Retary Speech competition where one learner won the prestigious prize of being coached in public speaking. The company that did that coaches our beloved Madiba too.
We have also won the Mbhazima Shilowa Competition. The learners were treated to a guided tour of the Apartheid tour of the Sci – Bono Museum for a great Science expo experience. We are currently preparing for the commonwealth Essay competition.
On the 26th November District 14 will be celebrating World Aids Day. Our Talk shows Team – called Liberty Roots be presenting a captivating Drama on the HIV/Aids – way out. 3 learners (Grade 11) got position one in Library Science/ model Competition – 04/05/09.

Liberty Roots
Hosts talk shows – debate with other school on issues affecting youth also reach out to communities.

Very active and received trophies between 2018 – 2022.
North South Student Exchange Program
This program was born in 1987. The late Mr. Matlala introduced us to the Norwegians. Our sister school in Norway and they in turn to do so.
We always have a theme for each year in doing common projects, e.g. in 2001 – drugs and leadership, concentrating on the learner council, in 2003 it was the signs and symbols of our countries, in 2004 art and culture, in 2005 Literature, in 2006 Entrepreneurship and in 2008 the theme will be Various Cultural Sports.
